Meet Virgil

Virgil bought his first Wrangler and started wheeling in
December of 2006 at a grand age
of 78 and has been playing with his Jeep every since. He is definitely an inspiration to us. Virgil
grew up with the Lord and met his wife, Pat, in church when he was 12 and she was 10; As time went on,
like many others, he slipped away,. When Pat went home to be with our loving Lord in November of 2005,
Virgil promised her that he would find his way back and he has. He is retired from the military and from
McDonnell Douglas, now spending his time playing with his dog Charlie, a King Charles Cavalier. Charlie
is not just a pet, but a beautiful and very friendly companion who also loves to go wheeling and on road
trips. Virgil's immediate family lives back east or up in Minnesota, so Virgil takes regular road trips
to run the route and visit them all. Virgil is an incredible man and has many life stories to pass on.
Get to know him and your life will definitely be enriched
Meet the Rig!

The Jeep
is a 1997 Wrangler TJ with A/C and a 4.0L straight 6 and an
automatic. The transfer-case contains the stock gearing but has
a Pro-Comp tail-shaft conversion and a Rubicon Express CV rear
drive shaft. Both differentials, Dana 30 front and Dana 35
rear, have been re-geared with 4.56:1 gears to drive the
oversized Pro-Comp 35x12.50x15 X-Terrains that are mounted on
aluminum American Racing Outlaw II rims. To fit all that rubber
it is sporting Rubicon Express lower control arms, Pro-Comp 4"
lift springs and DayStar 1" motor and 2" body mounts.
All that lift is controlled by Pro-Comp ES shocks and adjustable
track bars and JKS sway bar disconnects. Steering is
assisted by Currie heavy duty tie rod and draglink.
Pushing the extra toys requires power that is
assisted by an AiRaid throttle body spacer and air intake system
that pushes more out through the Banks header and catback
exhaust, but to keep it all legal it runs a Magnaflow high flow
catalytic converter. The extra juice to drive all this air
is provided by an MSD coil.
To protect
all this it is wrapped in SmittyBilt products with the front SRC
rock bumper with custom winch plate that also holds the ViAir on
board air compressor tank, SRC side bars that are flipped to aid
entry and the SRC rear bumper with tire swing away and receiver
hitch. Front and rear differentials are protected by 4
Wheel Drive Hardware brand diff guards. The soft
underbelly of the beast is guarded by a Tomenken full under skid; the steering box is protected by their box shield and
made sturdy by their gear box brace.
Inside, the
monitor duties are handled by a compliment of Autometer gauges
and the occupants are soothed by music from an amplified
Am/Fm/CD system and Alpine speakers. Trail talk is done
with a Cobra 75WTX one-hander CB and broadcast thru a 4'
fiberglass Firestick. Security inside is dealt with by
Tuffy side rail security storage boxes and a full replacement
center console.
